Today, May 22, is the tenth anniversary of Bitcoin Pizza Day. An event that remains in the history of the crypto community. To learn more about this event, read on.
Today is Bitcoin Pizza Day
On May 22, 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz, a programmer based in Florida, paid 10,000 Bitcoins in exchange for two pizzas. Of course, at that time, the crypto currency was worth almost nothing compared to the value of Bitcoin today.
So, raising the possibility today of buying a pizza with Bitcoin sounds quite normal. However, 10 years ago this wasn’t even remotely similar.
To accomplish this, Laszlo posted on the Bitcointalk, the joined bakkt in april – first enabled bitcoin transactions – bitcoin futures contracts – increasingly being eyed – a platform for issuing tokens – digital money forum – temporarily suspended trading of its shares – said last week – can conflict with each other – chief executive officer forum created by Satoshi Nakamoto himself, who was willing to pay 10,000 Bitcoins for two large pizzas. About four days later, Laszlo shared with the community that he had succeeded in getting his two pizzas in exchange for 10,000 Bitcoins.

At the time of the operation, according to a community member in the post posted by Laszlo, 10,000 Bitcoins was equivalent to approximately $41. Today that would be about $90 million.
Since then, this event has been celebrated every May 22nd, and today is the tenth anniversary of Bitcoin Pizza Day. It was the first time that an exchange was made for a service at Bitcoin, which was probably the most expensive dinner in history.
